The Mattress Vigil
The average age that children begin being sexually exploited is 12 years old. That is 6th grade. It is a difficult to comprehend this implications of this statistic. Thus we invite you to participate in our mattress vigil, a silent protest against child exploitation. Each mattress represents where children are being victimized.
The theme of Empathy Week is Entering In. We invite you take 15 minutes on a mattress to reflect on the suffering of these children while also considering ways to positively impact the lives of local kids who are experiencing this injustice. The vigil will take place Wednesday, March 26th between the hours of 11am and 3pm. So participate, advocate, and donate to help vulnerable kids in your community!
A group may reserve a mattress for a full day and represent themselves by creating a sign that says “(Group Name) Empathizes”.
